SR OFF-ROAD
is leading the way in designing a bike fit for
a Supermoto champion.
The team, based in Wirksworth,
Derbyshire, is targeting the next British Championship
race to discover if the new bike is a match
for their talented rider Sam Warren.
Warren, of Belper, Derbyshire,
is looking for a good result at the British
Championships in Sunderland on Sunday 14th August
after winning the David Jeffries memorial race
in Belfast in July and finishing joint second
overall at the British Championship race in
Rockingham last week.
SR Off-Road claims the new
bike finishes around 2.5 seconds quicker because
it handles so much better. The team also hopes
to give it more power by increasing its cooling
capacity.
"We have designed it
for the bigger, faster tracks in the World Championships,
but we hope it will improve our showing in the
British Championships as well," explained
SR owner-manager Mick Spencer.
The teamís excellent
results both in Britain and Europe have generated
a great deal of sponsorship interest ñ SR
is still the only independent team without big
money backing regularly finishing in the top
three in Supermoto races.
"Everyone in the team
puts in a lot of work to achieve these results.
With the right backer thereís no reason
why this team canít win championships," said
Mick.
Mick added that the high standards
set by SR mean he is often disappointed at seemingly
excellent results.
"We want to win races.
If we donít win all we can do is go away
and try to do better. With the new bikeís
chassis we hope we are getting closer to giving
Sam [Warren] a bike he can win on." |
