SR stands for "Spencer
Racing". The team was formed in 2000 and
is supported from local firms including Spondon
Engineering who re-engineer the bike chassis;
Ashbourne Engineering who manufacture specialist
engineering parts and Sam's Dyno Centre in Hatton
who do all SR's engine development.
Mick Spencer, SR Off-Road
team owner/manager is father of son Steve
Spencer - a rider in the team. Mick been in
bike business since 1968.
SR Off-Road team members
include Steve Spencer, 26, lived in Wirksworth
all his life and Adam Ermalenco, 24, lives
in Hatton nr Derby for last 15 years and was
born in the US.
SR Off-Road's no.1 rider
is Sam Warren, 22 years old and lived in Ashbourne
and Belper all his life.
Sam Warren was Motocross
schoolboy champ while a a pupil at Anthony
Gell School, Wirksworth. Sam hooked up with
SR Off-Road in 2001 just after SR Off Road
won the European Enduro Championships that
year.
Says Mick Spencer: "My
son Steve tipped me off about Sam in 2001.
He was a bit lost really at the time , but
we've helped him get more focussed and heís
gone from strength to strength."
SR Off-Road were given approval
to be part of the World Supermoto Championship
by the Supermoto governing body on Monday

SR Off-Road are looking
to ramp up their sponsorship to launch a tilt
at the World Championship in 2006 - Sam Warren,
an Engineer with Ashbourne Engineering in
Derby, intends to give up this job to race
full-time that year.
Though they missed the opening
race of the 2005-6 International season, SR
Off-Road are hoping to race in EVERY remaining
race for the rest of the Supermoto World Championship,
sponsorship funds permitting.
SR Off-Road is the ONLY
British-based team in the World Supermoto
Championship. There are usually around two
or three riders from each country in on the
grid at the start of a race. |
